packing the container

So we left Gilching just after 7 to get to the removal company by 8 on the Friday morning. It was a very cold but very sunny day. We waited for the lorry with the container to arrive, which it did at a quarter past 8.
They had packed everything from the storage unit to the lorry they'd filled the previous day and only had to transfer all that across to the container. That was the easy bit.
The not so easy bit was getting Steffi's car into the container.
They first tried using the metal ramps, but, on driving up to the top, it became clear that they would damage the underside of the car. So they used this precarious construction which finally actually did work.
They anchored the car to make sure it didn't move around during shipping and put the lead seal on the back door lock. And then off it all went to the Munich freight container and then on to Hamburg. It arrived in Las Breñas on the 3. of October at 8 in the morning after a number of problems with customs, one of our first encounters with the mind-boggling bureaucracy here.
